2004 Coup De Foudre Cabernet - Great Find!

I finally had a chance to taste the 2004 Coup de Foudre Cabernet and it is a winner. I would suggest that readers get on their mailing list ASAP. This wine is a wonderful wine that has the sweet aromas of Colgin Herb Lamb cabernet and the lovely color of a traditional California Cabernet. This is not a super extracted purple coated Cabernet. It is a lovely wine to look at, smell and taste.

When my brother Scott tasted this wine with me he remarked how sweet the fruit was; it wasn't a desert wine but just a slight hint of sweet fruit. I totally agreed with his assessment and that's why I thought it reminded me of a Colgin cabernet. The only exception was that Colgin wines are much darker than the Coup De Foudre whereas the 04 Coup was more traditional in color; light cherry tones.

If this is the first attempt from this new winemaking team, I am very optimistic about the coming vintages of Coup De Foudre. As I have said in the past, snooze you lose! Order some today.

Wine Enthusiast Magazine Review - Coupe De Foudre

98 POINTS

"This Wine is really a stunning Cab, soft and complex, rich in blackberry and chocolate fruit, and irresistibly delicious. Somehow they have made a wine that’s powerful and opulent and impossibly rich, yet maintains an almost weightless elegance." Editors’ Choice. – S. H.
