2004 Meander Cabernet Review

I also re-tasted the 2004 Meander Cabernet for the second time this month and every time I taste this wine it gets better and better. If you haven't scored any Meander Cabernet, search the market and get on their mailing list. The wine is made by Amy Aiken and here are some stats on the 2004 Meander from their website:

Production: 350 cases and 90 magnums
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Vineyard Sources:
50% Morisoli Vineyard - Rutherford
50% Lewelling Vineyards - St. Helena

Both of these vineyards have been family farmed for generations and the fruit is highly sought after by those winemakers crafting ultra premium Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley. Aged in 100% French Oak, 65% of which is new, for 20 months.

John Rittmaster from Prima Wines in California turned me on to the Meander and my policy on wine writing is that any retailer who turns me on to a great new wine, gets credit in my article and a free plug.

This wine is so smooth and supple that I can confidently say that it would have wide appeal at a wine dinner with friends. There are no hard edges on the wine; just great fruit and structure. Bravo!

I rate the 2004 Meander 94/100 points and I highly recommend that wine lovers search out this wine as soon as possible.
