Thanksgiving Miracle DonationsThe calls started at 8:00 this morning with the first pledge of $1,000. The donor said that they lost a dear friend in 911 and was touched by the article. Then, this first donor's friend, hearing of his $1,000 pledge, donated $1,100 not to be outdone by his friend! What a great start for day one of the drive. Other calls came in making pledges and that they would send what they could afford. Any amount will help the Welborn's trip to NYC and the process of rebuilding their home. Those who have pledged demonstrate the great capacity of our country to respond to those in need and I salute their generosity. All gifts that arrive by November 21st will be personally handed to the Welborn's two days before Thanksgiving, on November 22nd. The remaining donations will be presented to the Welborn's in Rumson. Over $19,000 in cash has been pledged to date and in addition, donations of goods and services listed below: Gordon & Carol Stillwell purchased the Welborn Family Plane Tickets ($3,000 value) Anonymous Donor for purchasing helicopter tour of Manhattan for six people ($600 value) Chef Peter DeCelie for offering to shop, prepare & cook for the Welborn Reception on December 30th at the Rumson Fire House ($$ priceless) Tom Shapero for purchasing six center front orchestra tickets for the Lion King on Broadway for the Welborn Family ($1,200 value) Brian & Denise Pasch for purchasing hotels rooms for the Welborn Family at the Molly Pitcher Inn, Red Bank for their weeklong stay. ($2,200 value) Kim Turko for donating two welcome baskets of homemade food and goodies to be placed in the Welborn Family's two rooms at the Molly Pitcher. ($$ priceless) Mark & Andrea Sherry for donating dinner for 6 at New York Oldest Steak House - The Old Homestead restaurant. The Welborn's will get the VIP treatment and experience Kobe Beef, 6 pound lobsters and all the restaurant can offer.
