Faust Cabernet Delivers - The second label of Quintessa

My dear friend Gale Stein-Lutz, the sommelier at the Old Homestead Restaurant in the Borgata Casino introduced me to this wine last night with dinner. When she said that it was the second label of Quintessa I was leery because I've never been a big fan of Quintessa. However, the wine was reasonably priced on the menu so I was intrigued. We tasted this wine after first starting with the 2003 Dumol Russian River Pinot Noir which was fantastic. The Dumol made me rethink my critical judgment of California Pinot's in past years.

The 2002 Faust Cabernet is a beautifully balanced wine with lots of great fruit and integrated structure. The wine was wonderful right out of the bottle and I think it would have benefited from an hour of decanting but it was consumed so fast we didn't get to know just how good it would with some aeration.

The wine label listed a website of www.faustwines.com but it looks like the website is under construction. Oddly enough the New Jersey super retailer "Wine Library" did not have the wine. I found a Connecticut retailer that ships and stocks the wine called www.dotcomwines.com . I recommend that you try this wine and send me your feedback. This reminds me of the wonderful wine that I found last year: Stewart Cabernet.
