The Heaviest Bottle Ever

The new 2004 MX Beckstoffer To Kalon Cabernet arrived today and it has to be the heaviest 750 ml wine bottle in my collection. I know that a wine review normally does not care about bottle size, but the packaging is stunning. The bottle could easily be mistaken for a magnum bottle! I hope what is inside this two barrel creation is worth the expensive glass and packaging.

Fifty cases of this California gem were made and the wine is sold out and the waiting list is growing. Readers had first shot at getting this wine and the MX Amnesia Zinfandel in March when I wrote about this new project. You can glance back at the MX Winery project here.

I will wait a few months before I try to taste this wine but readers should search the marketplace to see if they can find at least one bottle of the 2004 Cabernet. The advance buzz on this wine was very hot, so you get one more chance to get on the waiting list and pray some allocations open up in the future.
