Rumson Crew Estimated Startup CostsThe crew program already has 50 interested high school students so we need to accommodate 50 -60 students in the program for the first year. The estimated startup costs listed below is a conservative approach to the program, utilizing used and new equipment that can be purchased. The initial startup costs are high however once this equipment is purchased, it will create a base that can be added to slowly over the years. The program already has received donations of equipment not shown on this list, so for example, we have sculling boats but need some additional sculling oars. We have started to receive some wonderful gifts and underwriting from community minded people. We will post and update our list of contributions for the fundraising effort. Our initial goal was to raise at least $200,000 through the local mailing, local pre-event pledges and the event at the home of Brian and Denise . As of January 9, 2007 we have reached our initial pre-event funding goal. We now have the funding needed to start the program! We thank all the local residents and friends who have stepped up to date, but our fundraising program still has funding goals that have not been met. We can now focus on the funding for the running and expansion of the program in 2007, which will include programs for grades 7 and 8 as well as an adult rowing program The first kick-off event on January 6th for Rumson Crew, held at Bingham Hall, was a great success.
