Rumson Recreation Launches Crew Program

Rumson Recreation lead by John Hird, is very pleased to announce the creation of a rowing program for Rumson students and residents.  Rumson Crew, as it will be called will be headed by Dan Edwards who has been a pivotal player in organizing the program in Rumson. Dan is a competitive oarsman and an experienced collegiate and scholastic rowing coach." Dan and his wife Linda donated the first boat to the program; a November christening which drew by local supporters, politicians, local families and a former US Olympic rower.

The Rumson Crew program will offer students an opportunity to train this winter in preparation for competitive scholastic rowing in the Spring. Dan Edwards predicts that the rowing program will become one of Rumson's finest competitive sporting teams. Fundraiser Scheduled at Pasch Home - January 12, 2007

Rumson Crew is kicking off their public funding appeal by mail and also by holding its first fundraiser on January 12, 2007 at the home of Brian and Denise Pasch. We thank the community and local businesses for supporting this project; special thanks to our first corporate sponsor Circle BMW. Funding support comes in all levels, for example, the team needs to purchase six Concept-2 indoor rowing machines for the students to practice on this winter. These machines costs $900 each. It would be wonderful for a local family or business to buy one of these machines for the kids on Rumson Crew.   100% of all your donations to Rumson Crew will be allocated to the Rumson Crew program.
