Scarecrow Winery - 2003 Scarecrow Cabernet

I was recently in Napa and I spotted a bottle of wine that I had never seen before in the window of a St. Helena wine shop. When I inquired if I could purchase a bottle I was told that I could purchase one bottle in a "set" of six other hard to get wines.

Those wines included Robert Foley's Hourglass and Hundred Acre Cabernet. Now, every bottle in this "cult' collection I knew of except for Scarecrow. Under further investigation at other wine shops it seems that there is a "buzz" about this wine and the fact that 80% of the wine will be sold only through mailing lists.

When you visit the Scarecrow website you get to understand why there is a buzz about this project. The Scarecrow Winery owns some of the oldest Cabernet vines in Napa; vines that produced the legendary Inglenook Cabernets. I strongly recommend that collectors and Napa Cabernet lovers get on this list before it is closed.

The winery can not ship to New Jersey so I recommend that you use a shipping address in a reciprocal state or contact Buffalo Shipping Post in Napa (707-226-7942) who can ship the wine to you as your broker.
