Silver Pines Syrah - A Great New Comer

My friend passed me a bottle of Syrah from California, a new comer, one that is completely new to me. This winery produced 175 cases of their 2003 Syrah and the wine is amazing. The wine is Not over-the-top; often one of the reasons why Syrah's get a bad first impression.

This wine is much more approachable young then a "big" Australian Syrah but with ample fruit and structure that makes Aussie Syrah's a benchmark. I think the balance is just right. Distribution is very tight due to the limited production. Good Hunting since the 2003 is sold out at the winery.

The winemaker is Greg LaFollette and Greg Bjornstad is the Viticulturist.
